The gist: Voting is now open in the Idaho Education Association’s 2026 elections, giving members the opportunity to help choose leaders who will guide the union’s work in the coming years. Voting opened Wednesday and closes Thursday, May 14.
What’s on the ballot: Members are voting for statewide leadership positions and seats on the IEA Board of Directors, including:
• President
• Vice president
• Chair of the Resolutions Committee
• ESP-at-large
• Retired educator
• Aspiring educator
• Regional board seats for Regions 1-8
(Region 9, representing the West Ada Education Association, is not holding an election this year.)
• An amendment to the IEA’s Constitution is also on the ballot.
Why it matters: IEA is a member-led union, and elections help shape the direction of the organization’s advocacy, governance and priorities. Board members and statewide officers make key decisions on behalf of educators and public education employees across Idaho.
How to vote: Eligible members should have received a ballot by email from [email protected] and by text message from 1-877-225-8712. Each member receives a unique voting link that allows them to securely cast their ballot online. (NOTE: Because of an online voting platform malfunction early Wednesday, please be sure to use the link sent in the most recent text or email.)
What happens next: Voting remains open through 5 p.m. MDT Thursday, May 14. Once voting closes, results will be certified and shared with members.
Get involved: Members can learn more about candidates, election guidelines and the election process on IEA’s elections webpage in the members-only section of the IEA website.
