Experienced Educators, Practical Solutions

For nearly a decade, the CTL has been at the forefront of adapting to changes in public education. At the heart of our success is our pool of talented educator-instructors who design and deliver courses based on real-world experience earned in Idaho communities and schools. By leveraging their expertise on critical topics, we ensure every classroom in the state offers the best possible learning conditions for students.

"The Center for Teaching and Learning has been an invaluable partner in supporting our educators. The professional learning opportunity, 'Dyslexia Through the Multilingual Learner Lens,' provided significant benefits for teachers and paraprofessionals, equipping them with strategies that enhance instruction for English learners as well as our broader student population."

Mentoring the Next Generation of Educators

Just like having a dedicated, veteran educator in the classroom improves student outcomes, having a mentor for support and guidance also improves the success of early career educators. Through CTL’s mentorship program, veteran educators provide coaching and resources to new educators, helping them navigate the challenges of the profession, become fully certified and find success in the classroom.

CTL offers a variety of training options, ranging from bite-sized 90-minute  classes and half-day sessions to one-and-done full-day classes.

Class topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Engaging Students: Strategies to keep learners motivated and invested in their education
  • Effective Classroom Management: Techniques for creating a positive and productive learning environment
  • Supporting Student Behavior: Approaches to address student behavior challenges
  • Building Resilience: Fostering resilience in both teachers and students
  • Student-Led Learning: Empowering students to take ownership of their learning journey
  • Professional Ethics and Boundaries: Maintaining professionalism in teacher-student and teacher-colleague interactions
  • Advanced Certification Support: Resources and guidance for educators pursuing advanced professional endorsements
  • Understanding Dyslexia: Gaining expertise to effectively support students with dyslexia, including students who are multilingual learners
  • Inclusive Classrooms: Strategies to create an inclusive learning environment for all students

“All of the classes were top-notch. This is so refreshing since the district won’t allow us to go anywhere anymore. I only wish I had had this training earlier in my career.”
