Learn about IEA
We believe public education is a true public good that transforms lives and creates a more just and inclusive society making it an indispensable cornerstone of our American democratic republic. Together, we defend the teaching profession and believe public education is strengthened when educators are respected for their contributions to our state and its families.
The best argument for public education in Idaho is the good, simple truth of what happens in our members’ classrooms each and every day.
Layne McInelly,
IEA President and Public School Educator
Idaho’s educators know what it means to serve a community — and today, we pause to honor those whose service has safeguarded our freedom to teach, learn, and grow.
From every classroom across Idaho: thank you, Veterans. 💙

🎉 Big congrats to our Pumpkin Carving Contest winners — Lindsey Smith and Tabitha Miller and her daughter! 🏆
Your creativity lit up our feed (and our fall spirit)! Thanks to everyone who joined in to support the IEA PACE Pumpkin Carving Challenge — you all made it a spooktacular success! 👻🧡
Even though this contest has closed, the Political Action Committee for Education (PACE) is always open to new contributions!
What is PACE?
The Political Action Committee for Education was founded by educators, for educators. We support candidates of either party who stand up for fully funded public schools, local control, and pragmatic policy based on input from real Idahoans.

📊 Turnout made the difference.
In Idaho’s Nov. 4 elections, some school levies passed by just a few votes — Mountain Home by 20, Orofino by 14 — while others like Valley’s failed by only 4.
✅ Wins: West Ada educators helped elect Meghan Brown to the school board, and 18 districts passed supplemental levies.
❌ Losses: No bonds passed due to Idaho’s 66.7% threshold. Levies failed in Valley, Filer, Marsh Valley, Grangeville, Kellogg, Middleton, and Minidoka County, many by narrow margins.
Only 30% of Idahoans voted — but those who did proved how much every ballot counts.
Let’s build on this momentum and make turnout our strongest tool for change in the next election: the May 2026 primary. 🗳️💪
