Two Idaho Education Association members now have hundreds of extra dollars to spend on their classrooms – all because they protected their union by enrolling in IEA AutoPay.

Breanna Wise of the West Ada Education Association and Mardy Morales of the Boise Education Association were automatically entered to win Target gift cards when they made the switch to IEA AutoPay in August. Wise won a $400 gift card and Morales received a $200 gift card.

The contest was a statewide promotion to help members make the switch to IEA AutoPay before the Aug. 31 enrollment deadline. IEA AutoPay enrollment will not begin again until April 2025.

Thousands of members made the switch from payroll deduction to IEA AutoPay, an electronic funds transfer system, to blunt the effects of anticipated anti-payroll deduction legislation. Such legislation, which has severely weakened educator unions in several states, is expected during the 2025 Idaho legislative session.
