We’ve rounded up news highlights to bring you up to speed quickly.  

  • The National Education Association released its annual report on educators’ salaries. Discover how Idaho compares to other states.
  • The May primary election eliminated some of the IEA’s staunchest backers in the Idaho Legislature, setting the stage for a difficult 2025 legislative session.
  • During the same election, several districts received community support in the form of approved levies and bonds. But not all
  • Four IEA members were selected for an immersive, one-month program in Mozambique.
  • Idaho Education Association board member Peggy Hoy was appointed to a new, one-year organizing position.
  • Moscow Education Association member Marianne Sletteland completed her first year as a principal – and she’s one of the rare examples of a member making the jump from the classroom to administration.
  • Two IEA members received grants from California Casualty to benefit their respective sports programs. And there’s still time to apply for this year’s grants – or enter to win $500!
  • The largest Summer Institute ever brought together more than 200 educators from around the state, and Boise Education Association member Rep. Soñia Galaviz inspired them with her keynote address.
