IEA Announces Special Election for Board of Directors Seat

The election will take place throughout July.

The details: The election for the Idaho Education Association Board of Directors Region 8 position will kick off later this month. Only members in IEA’s Region 8 are eligible to participate in this election. 

The timeline: The process will take place throughout July: 

  • Monday, June 30: Nominations open 
  • Monday, July 14: Nominations close 
  • Wednesday, July 23: Election opens. Eligible members will receive electronic voting credentials through their personal email address and an SMS text to the cell phone on file with IEA.  
  • Thursday, July 31: Election closes at 5 p.m. MDT 
  • Friday, August 1: Candidates notified of results 

Why it matters: The winner of this election will lead the union’s work in IEA’s Region 8, which includes the western part of the Treasure Valley, one of the most populous and fastest-growing areas of the state. Longtime Region 8 board member Alicia Purdy recently resigned, triggering the election.
