The big picture: The Idaho Education Association’s most recent elections included a constitutional amendment — and the election of a new IEA president, Twin Falls Education Association member Peggy Hoy. The total below include the percentages of voters who supported each candidate or amendment.

• Constitutional amendment: Passed with 75.93% support

This amendment updates all pronouns throughout the IEA’s Constitution and Bylaws to gender-neutral language to ensure clarity, consistency, and inclusivity.

Officers elected:

  • President: Peggy Hoy — 99.19%
  • Vice President: Jon Hawkes — 99.35%
  • Resolutions: Melissa Stroupe — 99.7%
  • ESP-at-Large: LiseAnn Mills — 99.7%
  • Aspiring Educator: Paige Stranahan — 100%

Where it got competitive: Three races stood out as real contests:

  • Retired Rep (3-year): Terri Sanders won with 52.41%
  • Retired Rep (1-year): Greg Felton won with 50.83%
  • Region 5 Director: Colton Walker won with 55.56%

Regional Directors: Regions 1–4, 6–8 all seated their directors with 98–100% of the vote.

Why it matters: Democratic elections are the backbone of union power. This year’s results show both overwhelming consensus and a few genuinely contested races, both good signs of a healthy union.
