What they are: Both funds provide financial support during crises, but the two funds serve different purposes.
- The IEA Children’s Fund provides immediate help for students who need essentials such as food, clothing, school supplies or supports like eyeglasses.
- The Dues Hardship Fund is designed for IEA members themselves. Any member experiencing a significant financial crisis — such as a medical emergency, natural disaster, or sudden loss of income — may apply for assistance covering their dues.
How they work: Both funds are available only to IEA members.
- IEA members can request support from the Children’s Fund on behalf of students, and requests are processed quickly to meet urgent needs. Since its creation, the fund has helped thousands of children across Idaho stay focused on learning rather than financial stress.
- Members who would like to access the Dues Hardship Fund should contact Membership Associate Loree Nasman at [email protected]. Nasman will walk you through the steps of applying for the fund.
Paying it forward: Both funds reflect IEA’s core value of solidarity. Anyone — including non-members and businesses — can make a tax-free donation to the IEA Children’s Fund.
Members can support their colleagues by contributing to the Dues Hardship Fund. Simply check the Dues Hardship Fund box on your membership form, make a donation by check, credit card, or cash, or even host a fundraiser. Contact [email protected] for more information on how to donate.
