The gist: If you haven’t voted in the past four years, you may need to re-register to vote in the May 19 primary election in Idaho.
• The deadline to update your party registration is fast approaching, too: March 13.
Why you should check: The Idaho Secretary of State’s office completes biennial purges of its voter rolls to keep them up to date. The last one happened in 2025, when 144,000 voters were removed.
• Voters are removed from rolls when they die, move out of state, have not voted in four years, or are otherwise ineligible to receive a ballot.
• Checking your registration status is easy! Visit the Secretary of State’s voting website to verify your status and update your information.
Important registration deadline: March 13 is the final day to update your party affiliation by filling out a form with your county clerk.
• Only voters who are registered Republicans may vote in Idaho’s Republican primary, which determines the outcome of most elections in the state.
• To update your party affiliation, head to your county clerk’s website. You can find a full list of county clerks here.
