Hit the books: Idaho Education Association members, along with thousands of educators throughout the country, will champion the power of reading from March 2-6 during Read Across America Week.
Follow the plot: The National Education Association founded Read Across America week in 1998, which begins annually on March 2 — the birthday of beloved children’s book author Dr. Seuss.
• All over the country, public and school libraries will host events based on this year’s theme: “Celebrating a Nation of Diverse Readers.”
• Educators and children can participate by reading along with this month’s theme, “Champion Kindness,” with recommended books for elementary, middle and high school students.
• Learn more — including how you can participate all year long — by visiting NEA’s Read Across America page.
Are You a School Librarian?
The Idaho Education Association has a committee designed just for you! It’s open to all public school librarians, not just IEA members. To get involved, reach out to the Library Committee staff liaison, Julie Sarasqueta, at [email protected].
