The vast majority of IEA members now pay their dues directly to the union through IEA AutoPay.
What happened: IEA’s AutoPay campaign, launched in 2024, has officially wrapped up for 2025 — and it’s a clear win. The program allows members to move off payroll deduction and onto automatic bank/credit-card payments that bypass school districts and pay the union directly. The program was created in response to anti-public education lawmakers determination to prevent districts from using payroll deduction to process union membership dues.
Why it matters: AutoPay gives members a secure, easy way to pay dues, and helps the union guarantee steady funding even in uncertain political climates. It leaves the union stronger and more free to advocate for rolling back vouchers, funding for special education and other legislative debates likely to surface during the 2026 session.
How it played out: By the August deadline, the vast majority had switched to AutoPay. The result: smoother operations, fewer payment delays, and a stronger financial base going forward.
What they’re saying: “IEA members stepped up to protect their union and their collective voice,” said Paul Stark, IEA executive director. “This campaign shows the power of our members — and positions us to keep fighting for Idaho educators and students.”
