The gist: The Idaho Professional Standards Commission is filling two vacant positions that will represent the following types of educators on the panel:
- Elementary school principal
- Teacher of exceptional children
- Important: You must be a current Idaho elementary school principal or certificated classroom teacher of exceptional children.
What the commission does: The PSC makes recommendations to the State Board of Education related to the standards of the teaching profession. Its goal is to provide the state with competent, qualified, ethical educators dedicated to rigorous standards, pre-K-12 student achievement and improved professional practice.
The commission is made up of 18 education professionals from across the state who represent Pre-K-12 public education.
The time commitment: Meetings are typically held in September/October, December, February, April and June.
- Serving on the commission is a three-year commitment.
The compensation: Appointed members do not receive a stipend to serve on the PSC, but eligible members will receive lodging, travel and applicable meal reimbursement to attend any meetings scheduled to occur in Boise.
