Guiding New Teachers into the Profession – Without Burning Yourself Out

Have you ever been asked to mentor a new teacher? Or volunteer to do so? Is mentoring a new teacher something you see as valuable but at the same time really don’t need/want one more thing on your plate? If so, then this PD is for you! This full-day training is targeted toward teachers who are official and/or unofficial mentors of new teachers and can be beneficial for others who support those mentor teachers. Participants will learn about different types of mentoring, qualities and practices of good mentoring, and discover who they are as a mentor. In addition, this training will share the science behind burnout, then explore how teachers can provide relevant, meaningful guidance and assistance to their official or unofficial new teacher mentees without burning themselves out.
