The gist: A brand-new publication — “A Guide to Your Union” — will be landing in IEA members’ mailboxes within the next week. This 16-page, tabloid-style guide is designed to answer fundamental questions and show you how to get the most from your membership.
Why it matters: “The new union guide has all kinds of fundamental information about your membership and how to engage with the IEA,” said Mike Journee, IEA’s communications director. “An engaged membership makes for a strong union, and this guide will give every member a road map on how to get started.”
What you’ll find inside:
- How the IEA is organized and the many ways members can get involved
- Contact information for local and statewide leaders — including your IEA staff
- Information on professional development and member benefits
- Details on membership types, dues, and frequently asked questions
- Committees and caucuses you can join
- The ABCs of Delegate Assembly
- …and much more
Important: Every IEA member will receive the guide directly at their home mailing address. Keep an eye on your mailbox next week.
What’s next: Once you’ve had a chance to look through the guide, we’d love to hear your thoughts. Find the QR code that links to our survey in the back of the guide. Your feedback helps us keep making resources that serve members better.
