IEA Launches ‘May Matters’ Campaign to Reclaim Public Schools at Ballot Box — Join Member Town Hall on March 25

March 21, 2025

The Idaho Education Association is kicking off a huge new initiative that has the potential to transform state politics — and your union needs your voice.

May Matters is IEA’s new strategic campaign to reclaim Idaho public schools at the ballot box during the 2026 Primary Election.

“IEA members are mad about this legislative session, and they should be,” said IEA President Layne McInelly. “The 2025 legislative session is on track to be the worst for public education in at least 13 years — when the infamous Luna Laws were passed. The Idaho Legislature is power-hungry, intent on killing public schools and out of touch with reality. Key lawmakers need to be voted out of office, and we are going to do it.”

Join IEA members from around the state during a special town hall meeting about the May Matters campaign at 7 p.m. MST on Tuesday, March 25 on Zoom. You’ll hear from IEA leadership and Political Director Chris Parri about the new effort, including:

• The urgent issues behind the action

• IEA’s strategic response plan

• How EVERY member will play a vital role

• Prepare for the collective effort ahead

“We are asking every IEA member to join us at this town hall,” said IEA Executive Director Paul Stark. “Together, we will kick off our efforts to return the Idaho Legislature to sensible Idahoans who are unwavering in their support of public education, actually listen to their constituents and better reflect the needs of their communities.”

You must register for this event in advance. Access will be strictly limited to IEA members and staff, and your pre-registration will help ensure confidentiality. All members must pre-register by 5 p.m. on Monday, March 24 to be admitted into the Zoom meeting.
