IEA members are stepping forward to represent their colleagues in the work of the Idaho Education Association at the state and national levels.
Nominations for candidates to fill six seats on IEA’s May Board of Directors will be accepted until Feb. 12. However, nominations for delegates to the National Education Association’s 2024 Representative Assembly (RA) closed on Friday.
“Each of these engagement opportunities are perfect examples of your union’s fundamental nature as a member-driven, democratic association that fights for the issues you help to define,” said Layne McInelly, IEA President. “Your participation and engagement can only make us stronger and even more reflective of the priorities you are passionate about.”
2024 NEA Representative Assembly
Known as the world’s largest democratic deliberative assembly, the RA gathers thousands of union members from all over the nation to set policy and chart the direction of the association. The 2024 RA will be held in Philadelphia, July 3-7. The ballot for the Feb. 7-15 online election is set and can be seen here (late additions may be made to the webpage next week.)
RA delegates are elected by zones determined through the dispersion of local union membership and approved IEA’s Board of Directors annually.
