The Senate Education Committee will be hearing testimony on HB590, the voucher bill, on Wednesday, March 14th. The hearing will be from 2pm – 3pm in the Lincoln Auditorium of the Capitol.

If you are driving to the event, you will need to park in one of the public parking garages close to the Capitol and walk over. Early arrivers may park in the visitor slots at the IEA Building, 620 North 6th Street, just two blocks from the Capitol. There are a limited number of parking spots available however. Per diem will be paid based on the following guidelines:
MILEAGE: Mileage will be paid to the driver of a carpool at the rate of 49.5 cents per mile.
HOTEL: Individuals will be paid ½ of the federal government rate plus taxes, currently $52.55, based on double-occupancy. NO DIRECT BILLING of any lodging charges, even if the hotel staff indicates otherwise, is allowable. Except for unusual circumstances, members living within a 50-mile radius of the meeting shall not be paid the lodging portion of the per diem. Any exceptions must be pre-approved by the IEA President.
GROUND TRANSPORTATION/PARKING: The IEA will not pay for car rentals, gas or parking expenses .
Checks will be ready for the individuals on the day of the meeting if per diems are received ahead of time; otherwise checks will be mailed on the next available check printing date which is usually once weekly.
