The Idaho Education Association recently claimed three awards at the State Education Association Communicators (SEAC) conference. IEA Communications Director Dave Harbison accepted the awards after working collaboratively with other IEA staff and outside vendors on several projects over the last year. These honors continue a long tradition of recognition for the Idaho Education Association from the NEA state communicators professional associations (SEAC is the result of a merger between two previous groups—NEA Public Relations Council and NEA State Education Editors). The IEA claimed honors in the small states designation in the following categories:
- First Place-Best Video. For “We’ve Got Your Back”, which was aimed at letting early career educators know that the IEA was their go-to entity for professional support. IEA member and 2016 Idaho Teacher of the Year Melyssa Ferro narrated the video.
- First Place-Photography. For a photo of student Neiyaesh Sadat taken during an American Education Week event at Whittier Elementary School in Boise.
- Award of Distinction-Newsletter. For the IEA REPORTER, which is published three times per year in print, with additional content available online at org/iea-reporter.
