A campaign is under way to allow Idaho voters the opportunity to weigh in on three education reform laws passed by the 2011 Idaho Legislature.
Volunteers from Idahoans for Responsible Education Reform and the Idaho Education Association are collecting signatures on each of three petitions to put Senate Bills 1108, 1110, and 1184 to a vote next year.
People who’d like to sign the petitions this weekend will find them at many locations including:
Easter egg hunts in Burley, Filer, Jerome, Kimberly, Malad, Meridian, Montpelier, Twin Falls, and more;
Earth Day festivals in Bonners Ferry, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho Falls, Pocatello, and Sandpoint;
The Capital City Market in Boise and Eagle Saturday Market;
Art Under the Elms and an American Kennel Club dog show in Lewiston;
The Community Walk in Moscow;
The Potlatch Junior Miss event;
the end-of-the-ski-season street party in Ketchum;
and an open house in Rexburg.

The Idaho Legislature passed the education reform laws despite strong public opposition. Organizers must collect nearly 48,000 signatures on each of the three petitions this spring in order to put the new laws to a vote next year.
