A top National Education Association leader will be in Pocatello this Friday to help Idaho celebrate American Education Week.
Christy Levings, a member of the NEA Executive Committee, is the keynote speaker for the Greater Pocatello Chamber of Commerce’s annual Education Committee Fundraiser. The luncheon is set for noon to 1 p.m. on Friday, November 19, at the Holiday Inn, 1399 Bench Road. Tickets ($25 per person) are still available. Call (208) 233-1525 to reserve your seat.
The luncheon gives Idaho businesses, organizations, and individuals an opportunity to learn more about education issues and raise money to provide scholarships to area high school students who are dual enrolled at Idaho State University. Scholarships for both academic courses and professional technical courses are funded through the event.
In addition, a special Educators Night Out is planned for 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 19, at the Red Lion Hotel, 1555 Pocatello Creek Road. All area educators are invited to enjoy vendor displays, door prizes, member benefits, food, and fun.
