By the time you read this, much of the IEA staff will be on the ground at the Coeur d’Alene Resort for the 2019 IEA Annual Meeting and Delegate Assembly. Delegates will be arriving shortly thereafter, with caucuses set to begin at 7:30 a.m. Friday, April 5, followed by the general session at 10:00 a.m. This is the first time Delegate Assembly has been held in North Idaho since 2000.
This year’s guest speaker will by 2020 Idaho Teacher of the Year and longtime IEA member Marc Beitia. Marc founded the agricultural education program at American Falls High School–and he is also the mayor of American Falls. He spoke earlier this year to the legislature and shared some very insightful comments about teachers, students, and public education. His address will come Saturday morning. Here is a story on Marc from a recent edition of the IEA REPORTER.
Another yearly highlight at Delegate Assembly is the presentation of the IEA Awards. Given to deserving members, professional educators, and friends of education, these awards symbolize the dedication and commitment to our profession and to students around the state.
