Happy Veterans Day – and thanks to everyone who has served our nation in uniform. Here's a little way to show your appreciation to our current Idaho troops and their families:
A Mountain Home Education Association member is trying to raise funds for much-needed upgrades to the computer lab used by children attending the school at Mountain Home Air Force Base. Media specialist Joyce Wright writes that because the school is located 10 miles from town, “we are often forgotten out here. Instead of getting all the hand-me-downs, I would like the lab to have equipment that the other schools have.”
Wright is seeking a $50,000 grant that would replace old computers with 35 new laptops, upgrade lab wiring, and provide new paint and carpet for the first time in more than 20 years. The grant would also pay for new tables (the old ones sag), headphones, a typing program that allows children to log in from home, a more cost-efficient printer, and other upgrades.
