Layne McInelly has been elected President of the Idaho Education Association in statewide voting by IEA members. Erin Paradis has been elected Vice President. Both will serve three-year terms beginning August 1, 2020.
Layne has been serving as IEA President since December 2019. Prior to that, he was the IEA Vice President for five years. He has an extensive background with our Association, having served on the IEA Board of Directors and the IEA Government Relations Committee, and as the chair of the IEA Budget Committee. He taught sixth grade at Morley-Nelson Elementary School in Boise for 13 years.
Erin has also been very active in Association work. She is currently the Region 8 President and co-President of the Vallivue Education Association. She has served on the IEA Board of Directors since 2016 and has been a key member of the IPD committee and the IGNITE team. Erin is a music educator at Desert Springs Elementary School in the Vallivue School District.
Please join me in congratulating Layne and Erin on their elections. I know they will be terrific representatives for our membership and will work diligently on behalf of educators, students, and public schools in Idaho.
