Idaho Education Association President Sherri Wood made this statement today on the announcement that Idaho’s public schools will receive an additional $60 million in state funding for FY 2012:
“Idaho educators applaud this good news for Idaho students. While $60 million can’t erase the nearly quarter-billion dollars in cuts that Idaho schools have faced over the past three years, it is nice to know that the further erosion of funding as a result of the last legislative session has been avoided. These additional funds will help our schools weather the coming year.
“We all know that strong public schools are essential to our children’s future, as well as among the greatest economic development tools Idaho has. Idaho educators look forward to more wise decisions like this as our state’s economy improves.”
