We will be holding our first-ever virtual Delegate Assembly and Annual Meeting this year, with activities beginning at 10:00 a.m. MT Saturday, April 17. Alternatively and affectionately known as DA, this gathering is a prime example of how the democratic process works in the Idaho Education Association. The decisions made by member-delegates set the direction and policy the organization follows in the year ahead.
Delegates have already been elected by their local associations and mini-DAs have been taking place around the state in preparation for the statewide event. Non-delegate members are invited to observe the online proceedings and should contact IEA President Layne McInelly at lmcinelly@idahoea.org for more information.
The presentation of the IEA’s annual awards is a highlight of the event. Since the 2020 Delegate Assembly was canceled due to COVID-19, award winners from both 2020 and 2021 will be recognized during this year’s virtual event. Another staple of the Delegate Assembly is gathering donations for the IEA Children’s Fund. In lieu of the popular silent auction, a raffle will be held this year during DA. You must be present online to win. The Children’s Fund is a great cause and is always in need of funds to help Idaho students and families, so you are encouraged to find out more about this difference-making initiative and donate at https://ieachildrensfund.org/.
