2020 IEA Delegate Assembly
Our 2020 Annual Meeting and Delegate Assembly will be held at the Boise Centre in downtown Boise, April 17-18. This annual gathering is an essential component in our mission to promote and protect public education, as our members provide direction for the policies we emphasize during the coming year. As a democratic organization, we value the input and experience of our members, and Delegate Assembly is the most visible example of the IEA being a member-driven association.
Delegates are elected through voting by local associations, and each local conducts balloting independently and with their own timelines and procedures. Contact your local association for information on voting policies and how you can run for a delegate position. Delegates will also meet with their regions to discuss priorities for the general meeting and they can participate in separate meetings of groups like the ESP Caucus and the Women’s and Minority Caucus.
Having Fun Raising Money for the IEA Children’s Fund
Another highlight of Delegate Assembly each year is the fundraiser for the IEA Children’s Fund, which features a popular silent auction and opportunities to make cash contributions. The IEA Children’s Fund enables members to help students and families in need of necessities like season-appropriate clothing, eyeglasses, food, shelter, and more. The Children’s Fund can only make these life-changing resources available if there is sufficient money in the Fund, so please visit ieachildrensfund.org to find out how you can help this worthy cause.
