New “Library Smut” Bill Gets an Introduction after a Previous Attempt Failed

Last week, the House Education Committee stopped an attempt to criminally penalize libraries and staff if they made available materials “harmful to children” on their shelves. Proponents are hoping to find success in the House State Affairs Committee. Friday, Representative Jaren Crane (R – 12) put the new proposal before the committee for consideration, and a hearing on the full legislation is forthcoming.
