Educators in rural districts across Idaho will soon be able to apply for a new incentive could pay them up to $12,000 over four years for wide variety of expenses.
Approved by lawmakers during the 2022 legislative session, the incentive is administered by the Idaho State Board of Education and is designed to help recruit and retain teachers in rural areas. The money can be used to acquire additional degrees, advanced degrees, career technical certifications, other educational expenses, including subsidizing housing costs.
According to a recent media report, SBOE will begin accepting applications by the end of the month.
