More than 15,500 Seek for Empowering Parents — Applications Still Open
Over 15,500 families applied for the State of Idaho’s Empowering Parents grants during the first two weeks of the new program’s application window. Families in need of financial assistance with education expenses can still apply for grants of up to $1,000 per student or $3,000 per family for a variety of education-related expenses, from laptops to physical therapy.
Funded by $50 million in federal money, the grants will be provided to families using a graduated income scale giving those with lower incomes priority.
Awards will be issued based on each family’s adjusted gross income as outlined below:
- The first wave of grants will be awarded to eligible families earning $60,000 per year or less and will be funded on October 7, 2022
- The second wave of grants will be awarded to eligible families earning $75,000 per year or less and will be funded on October 12, 2022
- The third wave of grants (if funding is still available) will be awarded to eligible families earning more than $75,000 per year and will be funded on October 20, 2022
