Launch Grant Proposal Faces a Roadblock in the Senate

One of the Governor’s top proposals of the year, the Launch Grant Fund faced its next big hurdle in the Senate Commerce and Human Resources committee this week. The workforce development program aims to provide scholarships for students who seek degrees in in-demand careers. The fund uses $80 million in new money set aside during the September Special Session of the legislature, where an additional $330 million was earmarked for K-12 funding. The fund also uses $22 million from the elimination of the Post Secondary Credit Scholarship and Opportunity Scholarship programs. The committee sent H24 to the 14th order for possible amendments. The bill narrowly passed out of the House, 36-34.
