IEA Engages Lawmakers on Kindergarten Legislation

Lawmakers are actively considering several ways to disperse state literacy funding that increases opportunities for districts to offer full-day kindergarten.

Several kindergarten bills are expected to be introduced in the coming weeks that will determine how the $47 million increase in literacy funding recommended by Gov. Little will be allocated to districts.

Chris Parri, IEA’s political director, and the rest of the IEA’s lobby team are working with lawmakers on these various proposals to ensure school districts can meet the needs of students, educators, and families and offer robust, full-day Kindergarten.
