IEA’s Human & Civil Rights Committee met November 4-5 to plan activities and programs for the year.
On Saturday, the committee also met with NEA Leaders for Just Schools certified trainers to define how to proceed to further their work as well as support the charges of the HCR Committee. Partnering between the two groups will allow more comprehensive opportunities statewide for training, activism and engagement among IEA members as they strive to enhance equity in our classrooms and communities.
“This meeting is ultimately the start of a fantastic collaboration with the HCR Committee,” said Jamie Morton, board chair for the Center for Teaching and Learning and an NEA Leaders for Just Schools trainer “Thank you, HCR Committee members for sharing the room and agenda with us.”
