Legislation to allow private school vouchers has been introduced in other states in recent years, and there is a reasonable possibility that at least one bill, similar to others introduced in Florida and Iowa, could be on its way to the Idaho legislature. These bills are very concerning for public schools and students, because they syphon taxpayer dollars away from public schools and into private and parochial schools.

House Education Committee Votes on Science Standards
In our Wednesday Hotline we recapped the House Education Committee’s decision to remove one standard and all supporting content from Idaho’s revised science standards. The Senate Education Committee will take up the issue next.
Teacher Loan Forgiveness Bill Printed by House Education Committee
IEA member Rep. Sally Toone, D-Gooding, introduced this bill, targeted at incentivizing teachers to stay in rural and economically disadvantaged schools by forgiving part of their student loan debt. Please send emails to the House Education Committee in support of this legislation.
