Teachers will be well represented on the advisory committee named today to work with the State Department of Education on the Smarter Balanced Field Test this spring. The SBAC (Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium) test is scheduled to be given to all of Idaho’s public schools in 2014 as part of a three year phase-in. Scores will not be given in 2014, but the questions will be evaluated to “ensure the test questions are fair, valid and reliable.”
IEA members Rachel Lyon from Troy, Jolene Dockstader from Jerome and Cindy Wilson from Boise will serve on the twenty member committee that also includes superintendents, principals, curriculum directors and technology specialists.
