If you are one of the thousands of Idaho citizens who’ve stepped up to join the fight against the Luna plan and you are looking for a “next step,” how about this:
Next Friday, March 18, is the deadline to run for school board this May in many Idaho communities. Click here for an information packet and forms from the Secretary of State’s office. Contact your school district to learn if there are seats up for election.
There’s a partial list of websites here, or check your phone directory.
School board races will be more important than ever in the wake of Senate Bill 1108, which tilts the balance of power in school-teacher relations far to the side of school boards. You can bet Tom Luna’s allies will be running with an eye toward further privatization and profiteering of our schools, at the expense of children and teachers.
If you care about Idaho’s public schools and fair treatment of teachers, please consider running for a school board seat this year.
