Monday marks the 29th legislative day and the first full week of February. A quick look at committee calendars confirms that the pace of work at the Capitol is expected to increase beginning next week. Both the House and Senate Education Committees will be debating bills beginning as early as Monday, and we can expect additional legislative ideas to surface. Monday morning the House Education Committee will consider HB 379, the measure to recognize and honor outstanding teachers sponsored by Rep. Linden Bateman (R-Idaho Falls) and HB 428, the measure sponsored by Rep. Marc Gibbs (R-Grace) that would allow school boards in districts and charter schools with fewer than 1200 students to hire their spouses in limited instances.
