The Joint Finance-Appropriations Committee met Friday morning to make one final decision on intent language for the public school budget (intent language outlines how funding must be spent and has the force of law).
Two very similar motions were introduced, the only difference between them being whether to allow school districts already utilizing the statewide contract to receive wireless connectivity to “opt out” and instead get state funding to buy their own networks.
Following brief debate, committee members supported a motion, introduced by Sen. Dean Cameron (R-Rupert) which would let school districts opt out of the statewide contract with Education Networks of America if they want.
