IEA Director of Public Policy Matt Compton prepares to testify before the Senate Education Committee.
SB 1232, the bill sponsored by the IEA, experienced a minor setback today when members of the Senate Education Committee questioned whether the language being proposed is overly broad.
The bill would protect school bus drivers from civil or criminal liability if they intervene to protect someone on their bus from potential harm.
Committee members agreed to hold the bill and give the IEA time to work with the bill writer to propose language that more closely aligns with the intent behind the legislation.
