The Idaho Education Association will be showcasing the expertise of several members during Celebrating Idaho Teachers and Public Education activities at the Capitol in Boise on Monday.
The House Education Committee will convene a special session beginning at 8:00 a.m. Thursday in the Lincoln Auditorium to discuss Idaho’s content standards, with attention sure to be focused on the science standards.
State Superintendent of Public Instruction Sherri Ybarra presented her budget proposal for the 2019 fiscal year to the Joint Finance and Appropriations Committee (JFAC) Thursday morning. Ybarra requested a 6.8% increase in general fund monies in fiscal year 2019, which translates to more than $113 million in new funding for Idaho’s rapidly growing public school…
The powerful Joint Finance and Appropriations Committee will hear specific budget proposals from the State Board of Education and the State Department of Education next week. While Governor Otter outlined some of his budget request during his State of the State address and Superintendent Sherri Ybarra has previously released her request, the formal presentations to JFAC really get the ball rolling on the budget setting process.
