After working through a backlog of bills, the Senate made quick work of the seven education bills, passing all of them unanimously with very little debate.

IEA member Sonia Galaviz impressed the Senate Education Committee Tuesday with her remarks in association with being recognized for her achievements and commitment to education.

All seven of the education budget bills easily passed the full House Monday, and will now head to the Senate for the next step toward final approval.

The public education funding bill is still making its way through the House, and could be heard as early as Monday. While there appears to be solid support for that legislation, it is always possible that other issues could have an indirect impact on its approval.

The K-12 funding bill that includes allocations for the Career Ladder, discretionary funding and other items critical to public schools is still making its way through the legislature.
