Families in need of financial assistance with education expenses can now apply for help from a new program from the State of Idaho
Called Empowering Parents, the program provides grants of up to $1,000 per student or $3,000 per family for a variety of education-related expenses, from laptops to physical therapy. Funded by $50 million in federal money, the grants will be provided to families using a graduated income scale giving those with lower incomes priority.
Awards will be issued based on each family’s adjusted gross income as outlined below:
- The first wave of grants will be awarded to eligible families earning $60,000 per year or less and will be funded on October 7, 2022
- The second wave of grants will be awarded to eligible families earning $75,000 per year or less and will be funded on October 12, 2022
- The third wave of grants (if funding is still available) will be awarded to eligible families earning more than $75,000 per year and will be funded on October 20, 2022
