Tomorrow is #RedforEd! On the first Wednesday of every month, educators in Idaho wear red and join together to demand the public schools our students deserve. Tomorrow, I’m wearing red to improve educator pay. Teachers are paid 20% less than comparably educated and credentialed professionals. And in Idaho, our students lose hundreds of great teachers every year to neighboring states that pay far more. It’s time Idaho respects our professions and the students we serve.
Through Red for Ed, educators have fought across the country for better working conditions, to increase funding for schools, and to improve learning opportunities for their students. And they have WON. #RedforEd is the movement that we, as educators, must be part of to have our voices heard in the classroom, the statehouse, and our communities.
Tomorrow, wear Red for Ed and reach out to your legislators and ask them what they are doing to support public schools, students , and educators this legislative session.
Take a picture of you and your colleagues wearing Red for Ed and post it on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram with the hashtag #RedForEd.
Visit #RedForEd for more information on this incredible movement and see how your colleagues across the country have fought and won the schools their students deserve!
