Career Exploration Courses for Middle and High School Students

H269 Senator Lent (R – Idaho Falls) presented a bill that, if passed, would require all 7th or 8th graders to complete a course on career exploration. Educators would work with students and their parents or guardians to create a career path plan to help ensure they are college and career ready by graduation.

IEA Executive Director Paul Stark testified in favor of the legislation, saying, “Teachers play a vital role in the lives of their students and the opportunity to help a student fully realize their potential is why most educators get into the field.”
