Earlier this week, IEA informed the education committee chairs that we expect many educators to take part in the joint education committee listening session, set for Monday afternoon from 4-6 pm in the Capitol Auditorium. Because many educators will be unable to leave their worksites before 4 pm, we wanted to be sure those who would like to speak could have that opportunity, even if they arrived somewhat late to the event.
Members of the IEA lobby team met once again with the education chairs and representatives from the school administrators, school boards association, PTA, and the State Department of Education. In this third meeting of the group, the parties reviewed a handful of changes to the initial bills that were printed a little over a week ago.
Members of the Senate Education Committee agreed to print four measures this afternoon.
Earlier today, House Education Chairman Reed DeMordaunt (R-Eagle) announced that the House and Senate education committees joint “listening session” held last on Friday was so successful that they’re going to hold a second one next Monday February 11th , from 4-6 p.m. to allow members of the public who were unable to attend last Friday morning’s session.
