Nominations due April 12 for A Plus Awards

March 21, 2011 | 0 Comments

It’s time once again to help your IEA region select a deserving recipient for the A+ Friend of Education Awards program. Each region will name one recipient.

Nominees should come from outside the education community. Your nominee could be a local leader, a volunteer who goes “above and beyond,” a community organization that works hard to support local schools, or a reporter who has taken extra time to understand education issues.

Nominations are due in your region office by Tuesday, April 12, 2011. IEA President Sherri Wood will present the awards during special ceremonies in each region this spring.

The IEA A+ Awards program has three goals:

To recognize and express appreciation to individuals or organizations outside the education family who have made a special and unique contribution to the cause of public education over an extended time, and particularly in the last year;

To foster connections and partnerships among school communities, their neighbors, and the patrons of the district

To help build community coalitions that will support local public schools.

Nominations may come from any member or local association, but no more than one nominee will be accepted from any one source. The form is available below.
