Opportunities

 

Here’s an ongoing list of opportunities for Idaho educators and students. 

April 20-21 – The Idaho Education Association will hold its annual Delegate Assembly at the Boise Centre on the Grove. 

April 23-24 – A grant-writing class will be held in Meridian. Learn how to write grant proposals start to finish and how to locate and track relevant grant opportunities. Graduate professional development credit is available from Fresno Pacific University.

May 8-9 – Help Idaho students prepare for the innovation economy and develop a roadmap for the future of K-20 STEM (Science Technology Engneering Mathematics) education at the STEM Summit 2012 in Boise. 

June 25-26 – A two-day grant management training is set in Meridian. This class will help participants hone grant administration skills and gain extensive knowledge of the compliance requirements that all grantees must meet when managing federal funds. Graduate professional development credit is available from Fresno Pacific University.

Ongoing – Tutor Doctor has work for certified teachers for a variety of Treasure Valley assignments in subjects including math (basic and upper level), science, language arts, history, reading, special needs, ACT/SAT, and foreign language. 

Ongoing – The Idaho Education Association awards Cold Hard Cash grants to members who are in their first five years of teaching. Drawings take place October through May. Learn more here.

Ongoing – Capital Educators Federal Credit Union offers grants to teachers in its 15-county Southwest Idaho membership area. Grants are awarded October through April. Get more information and an application here.

Ongoing – Explore awards and recognitions offered by the National Science Teachers Association.

Ongoing – The Professional Standards Commission will fund professional development opportunities for educators in the state of Idaho. Access the application and more information about the grants on the State Department of Education website. Fall and Spring applications must be received by November 15 and April 1 each year.

Ongoing – The Idaho Law Foundation can provide teachers with tools to help students understand the law, court procedures, and our legal system and foster positive attitudes about law as the basis for a democratic society. Programming for teachers and students includes Constitution Day, Lawyers in the Classroom Project, Turning 18 in Idaho Student Magazine, and Mock Trial Competition. Ongoing - The National Association of School Nurses is offering a free teen prescription drug abuse school tool kit to professionals in middle schools and high schools. The kit includes school assembly videos, stickers, posters, parent fliers, lesson plans, and more.
